Slow Windows XP Shutdown

I am using XP Pro and the shutdown is quite slow (on the Windows is Shutting
Down...) screen. It takes longer to shut down than to boot!

I use the welcome screen and ZoneAlarm pro (this may take a long time to
shut down as it used to take ages to start without the prefetch). I have
turned off unnecessary services.

How can I speed up shutdown?

Are you using a Logitech keyboard? Some models cause a significant delay in
shutdown?

Also check to see how many apps you are running in the
background if any.

Don't have the answer but am asking the same question.
After loading one of the recent XP Hotfixes (maybe
Q819696?) the rocket ship I bought turned to a slug on
shutdown. Maybe our answer lies in finding out whats
running??? If you get a reply could you pls fwd? Thanks
