slow union query

I have a database that grew to over 2gig's. It has a large
number of photos imbedded. I have split it into three
databases and linked the tables. I now use a union query
to connect the 3 databases. My question: The union query
is very slow to run. Is there anything that I can due to
get this to run more quickly.
