slow text

Have 2007 installed on several computers, each linking to an access database
on the network. Each machine is running the same specs, however on one
machine, there sometimes is a delay of a second or 2 when entering text into
a form. This delay does not occur on outlook or word, and does not occur on
any other computers so far.
Any ideas on what would be causing this?

Virus.
Spyware.
Key logger.
Something eating up the CPU.
Over-active virus checker.
Slow network connection.

fresh install on brand new workstations, and they are all clean of virus,
spyware etc.
Virus scanner is Avast, however turned that off, and it made no difference.
(also installed on the other workstations, with no problems)

Would not tend to think its the network, as there are only a few devices on
the LAN, and no other machines are having the issue. Also, doesn't the form
use a local copy and only update across the network when the page is closed?
(Previously, if the server is turned off, the workstations would keep going
with no noticeable effect, until they go to close the form, at which point it
locks up)

As for "something eating up the CPU", will look to see specifics of how much
each application is using, however as said before, this only ever happens in
a form text box, the rest of the machine runs very smoothly.

Actually it could be the network. The first thing Access does on a
new record is create an empty record in the backend.

See When is an autonumber value allocated?
http://msmvps.com/blogs/access/archive/2007/07/16/when-is-an-autonumber-value-allocated.aspx
for what I'm talking about here and an explanation.

So if the first text field on a form but not second or third text
fields and it takes a while for the triangle to change to a pencil
then I'm thinking it is the network.

Is that computer network card set to 10 mbps when it should be 100
mbps or even 1 Gbps like the other systems?
