Slow text file transfer on HyperTerminal

I use Hyperterminal to transfer firmware in the form of
text files to a remote instrument via a com port. Using
Windows 98 the file takes about 2 1/2 minutes at 57600
baud. Using Windows XP pro takes about 1 1/2 hours at the
same baud. Does anyone know why XP takes so long?
 
got the same issue, hyperterminal on windows xp pro is taking ages to update the text file when the instrument sends the data via serial port
