Slow Speed after Reformat

Guest

I recently had to reformat, because the problems with XP just stacked and stacked until I had to start all over. After the reformat, the computer runs extremely slow. I ran the Windows Update, and defragged the drive to see if maybe that helped, but no luck

Any advice on how I can speed up the comp to how it *used* to be

It's a 1.8GHz AMD Athlon, 384MB RAM, but right now it's acting like the 166 MHz I had before it

Thanks
