Slow PC

Despite having new memory fitted my pc is running very
slowly. I think too many programs have installed
autostart ups on boot and i also have 45 processes
running if i look in task manager processes in windows.

How can i correct this problem and run only what i need
too?

Yes 45 process's is a bit much. To limit what starts with your PC goto
Start>>Run>>Type "msconfig" hit Enter and goto the Startup Tab.

You should also run disk cleanup, scan for virus', scan for spyware, and
make sure you have all windows updates.

Install and use a startup manager program such as these

run

msconfig
startup
uncheck everything EXCEPT your anti-virus software
click apply and restart.
Next: click start
right click my computer
choose properties
click settings button under performance
place a bullet next to adjust for best performance
recheck the last 4 items in the list
click apply.
