Slow Opening Outlook Express

T

TNRoadHog

The first time I attempt to logon to my home page
{my.msn.com} the system attempts to logon to
https://loginnet.passport.com/ppsecure/silent.srf?
xxxxxxxxhttp://my.msn.com/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
x. Apparently it is trying to logon to Passport
Unfortunately the site cannot be found and the logon times
out. After a few attempts logon does complete and Internet
Explorer opens and the logon completes. This only occurs
during first logon attempts as Passport remains connected
for all susequent attempts. This problem started a few
days ago but I had not changed anything between correct
logon and this slow logon

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Seems a lot of people are encountering this problem as of late (check some of the other threads, lots of helpful info there). Sounds like a browser hijacking attempt (OE is included with your browser). Some spyware will set up shop on your PC and change settings, make additions to your registry, etc... Make sure you have virus protection, a firewall (zonealarm is great and free), some spyware scanner (I personally use adaware, it's free), and I also use registry mechanic (paid version), which helps detect and remove unwanted registry entries. A browser repair might help also: Start-Settings-Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs. Find MS IE and click add/remove. You will see an option to repair
What might be causing this is a trojan. I've been getting emails with the same trojan in an attachment regurlary/daily. My anti virus software catches them. They've all been disguised as coming from a bank. BEWARE and get protection

Good luck
