Slow menu/program selection

When I use the save as function or similar to save to a
different location than the default, it takes as long as
10 seconds after clicking on the drop down menu for the
menu to appear. Is there a fix for this?
Running Windows XP Home on a Dell 3.2 Ghz w/ 1 gb ram.
Office Prof 2003.

If you are saving to a network location or external device the drop down
menu can be slow. I have a 3.2 GHz as well and sometimes have slow
responses of 5 seconds.

Thanks. The light went on when I read your response. I'd
mapped a network drive but often don't have the other
computer on so I guess it was searching for it. I deleted
the mapping and it's fine.
