Slow links in Outlook 2007?

Is anyone else seeing long delays between clicking on a web link in Outlook
2007 and when the web browser actually opens up? (BTW, this is with IE 7)

I have seen it off and on, but over the last few days, it seems to have
gotten much worse. Can be over a minute before the link comes up, adn the
delay seems to be on every link now.

While waiting, I can independently open IE and browse without a problem, so
it seems to be the Outlook side that is the problem.

Is this something unique to my configuration, or are others also
experiencing it? Thanks.

Nope, I'm not experiencing that. What add-ins do you have installed?

Presumably, just standard ones:

MS Exchange Outlook add-on for Unified Messaging

MS Office SharePoint Server Colleague Import Add-In

MS Outlook Mobile Service

MS VBA for Outlook Addin

Search.OutlookToolbar

WinFax Integration with Outlook 2000

Any of these known to cause trouble? Thanks!

"WinFax Integration with Outlook 2000"

Try disabling that one to begin with; I'm quite surprised that that add-in
doesn't give you all sorts of other errors. Dring the BETA you should not
run any third-party add-ins unless you develop them or the vendor claims it
is compatible with Outlook 2007.

Outlook 2007 Beta 2 has a bit of a weird behavior when clicking on
links. It first resolves the link with IE (without displaying IE) and
only if it is successful does it send it to the default browser (IE in
your case). So it is accessing the Internet already while you don't see
anything on the screen. Hence if the website the link points to takes a
while to resolve or is slow in responding, you'd see a delay. This could
be what is going on. This behavior was fixed by MS in later internal
builds (we won't see the fix until the next beta release. ETA is
unknown).
I'd check the add-ins though as well.

I'd disable WinFax. An add-in written for Outlook 2000 might cause some
serious issues in 2007.

Indeed, which makes the delay related to your connection speed as well ;-)
Thanks!

Thanks for the quick responses! I disabled WinFax, shutdown and
restarted Outlook 2007, and no change. So still seeing varying slow link
opening.

You could try if Outlook Safe Mode makes a difference. If not I would wait
for the upcoming TR release. If it is still slow then feel free to report te
issue again.

Interesting, hence the randomness! I hadn't really pinned it to be site
specific. Thanks!
