Slow Internet

My family just got wireless internet using Linksys wireless G. I have a
Toshiba Tecra A4 computer and my g/f has a Toshiba Satellite. The wireless
internet on mine is usually around 24 or lower MBPS and her's is always fast
and up around 54 MBPS. The adapter that I have is Intel(R) PRO/Wireless
2200BG Network Connection. Her's is Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network
Connection Is there something wrong with my wireless? Is there a way I can
make it go faster?

You may possibly check intel's website for an updated driver for your
adapter. The connection to the router really would not make a difference in
speed until you actually started transferring files from one computer to
another across the LAN (Local Area Network). You are capped on your download
speeds from the internet. Assuming your on a standard highspeed connection
your max would be 5mbs.

I'd update the driver, if that does not make a difference. Try a hardwire
from the same router to your laptop. Speed tests can be done at
http://www.speakeasy.net. (Flash must be installed)

Hi
I assume you mean 24Mb/sec.
Your Internet connection is probably well bellow 10Mb/sec., so your Wireless
(24mb/sec.) is not slowing the Internet.
24Mb/sec. is a typical High yield of the so called 54Mb/sec. 802.11g.
See here, http://www.ezlan.net/net_speed.html
