Slow file xfer between comps

I have 2 computers set up in a home networking configuration through a Linksys hub. I am transferring a rather large file (240mb) from my desktop to my laptop. The transfer is going slow, estimated time of transfer is 133 minutes

Is this normal? Or is there some way I can speed this process up by changing some setting? Please hlep if you can!

Have you checked the settings of both Network cards yet? Are they both using 100Mb Half duplex, or at least the same settings for this parameter? Are they both using a Windows OS? If so, you might also want to check if the network settings are the same
No other software is running which might brake up your speed

Another possibility is a flawed Network Interface Card (NIC) which is
putting a lot of errors into the network connection.
