Slow down USB 2.0 to USB 1.1 or 1.0

How can I slow down the data transfer of my external hard disk that is
connected to a USB 2.0 port so that it operates on USB 1.1 or 1.0
transfer rate?

Repeated data corruptions are occuring and I believe that it has
something to do with the high data transfer rate on USB-IDE bridge. Can
somebody help?

Thanks

So BIOS setups have an option to set USB operates
as USB 1.1 only. If your BIOS has no such option
you could buy an USB 1.1 Hub and put it between
computer and drive.

Hi,

1. How is the ext. Hdd configured, optimize for quick removal or optimize
for performance?

2. Are you using a proper USB2.0 cable and how long is it?

3. What is the brand and model of the Ext. Hdd case?

Pls post back to NG

I am sorry that I dealyed a little bit in replying. This HD took so
much of my precious time.

Length of wire is 1m and I AM using a USB 2.0 cable. To cut short the
discussion that I did everthing from low level reformatting, power
supply checking, disabling write caching, other USB cable,
etc....nothing worked, the data always got corrupted. Eventually I
found an option in my setup to disable USB 2.0 host. As I am not using
any other fast USB device, so I disabled it and as per my expectations,
things have been solved.

Thanks NG for your help.
