When I go to view a directory of word docs across a network from a Windows
2000 Professional workstation, it takes 13 seconds for the names of docs to
appear in the Word Open window. There are 10,000 word docs in that directory
and they are housed on a Windows 2000 Server.

Note that until now the same directory was housed on a Windows 98 Server
and the access time was only 1-2 seconds.

How do I get the same quick access on the 2000 Server that I enjoyed on
the 98 Server?

Hi Lee,

I think you're much more likely to get an answer in a Windows Server
newsgroup such as microsoft.public.windows.server.general. The problem
doesn't appear to have anything to do specifically with Word.
