Slow database

I hope somone can help me with an issue we are having, we run a database that
is split into FE/BE it keeps slowing down and does not respond when pressing
and buttons on the forms, an extra access button keeps popping up on the
windows taskbar when the database is running slow. A compact an repair of
the front end will stop the slow behavior but it will start again the next
time the database is opened (sometimes it takes the database being opened a
couple of times for the slow behavior to begin. I have also compacted the BE
but this does not have any effect.

Phil,

This is a good document that covers a lot of the issues:

However, the first thing I would check is to make sure Track Name
Autocorrect is not checked (Tools - Options - General tab in Access 2003 or
less, Office Button - Access Options - Current Database in 2007)
