slow copying & pasting with keyboard shortcuts

I am using excel 2000:

Copying and pasting cells using the keyboard shortcuts takes quite
long to complete (~ a few seconds). But if I do the same thing by
right clicking the mouse, it responds immediately.

This does not happen with any other program. Any ideas on why this is
happening?

Hi Edwin,
Can't imagine what the difference might be.
By keyboard shortcuts assume you mean Ctrl+C (copy) or Ctrl+X (move)
and then Ctrl + V (paste) and that you have not assigned your own
macro(s) and assigned them to these shortcuts.

What are you copying, a few cells, entire rows, entire columns.

Where are you copying them to the same worksheet.

If you use Ctrl+End does it correctly identify the intersection
of the last used row and the last used column.

Yes, I am using those keyboard shortcuts (ctrl+c, ctrl+x,
ctrl+v). The number of cells copied and the pasting
destination do not seem to make a difference (the delay
occurs for copying, cutting, and pasting). Ctrl-end
correctly goes to the largest (row,col).
