slow COM port enumeration

I have over twenty virtual COM ports (USB-COM) that take very long time to
show up in Device Manager every system start-up. Each COM port takes about 5
seconds. So, before the list is complete in Device Manager after boot-up, it
takes over a minute.

Is there some component, possibly missing, that could solve this issue?

I have toyed around quite a bit with the registry settings under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\... and \Services.

Is serenum.sys doing something it should not?

Thank you,

Hello Mr. K.

Perhaps you should add the "SkipEnumerations" key to the registry for each
port. Then the OS won't waste time looking for PNP devices connected via the
serial ports (e.g. Serial Mouse).

Cheers,
Andrew Roy
