SLOW closing of excel files

Hi all;

Got an issue with Excel 97 taking "forever" to close files
either locally or via the network.

Same file opened and closed in Excel 2000 closes quickly.

Has anyone experienced this slow closing within Excel 97?
Any ideas would be appreicated.

Yes, same computer. With all other apps, files close
quickly either locally or off the network.

It's not a problem with Office 97 install, because after
reinstall of entire package, same result. Word 97 works
just fine.
Very strange.....
