Slow browsing of disks

Have XP Pro installed in my computer. Lately when I double click My computer
to
list my drives, it takes a long time before they appear, 2 or 3 minutes.
Also when I try to open Disk Management (Adm Tools, Computer management, it
doesn't open , after a long time it gives the message "Server Execution
Failed".

Any ideas on how to solve this problem are welcome. ( I believe its part of
just one big problem.)

Install xp cd,exit the info page,go to run,type:cmd In cmd type:VERIFY ON
Then type:Sfc /Scannow When the utility is thru,type:CHKDSK C: /F Agree
to restart,type:EXIT Restart computer,remove cd.

Try to follow your instructions, however I installed SP 2 in my PC, and
original CD Version of Xp doesn't have it. I suggestion?
