Slow browser

Ever since I installed IE6, the browser is extremely slow
at scrolling down the page. It is at it's very worst if
there are many different pictures or there is a form to
fill in, which has drop-down menus. If you go to fill out
any blank spaces on the form, the words don't appear for
at least ten seconds after typing. The only thing that I
have seen that could possibly help is 'smooth scrolling'.
Neither having it on or off helps. I have a Windows ME
pentium 3 computer so it shouldn't be the PC, besides that
I have not had this porblem in 2 years of using previous
IE versions on my PC. Can anyone help?
