Slow bootup time

Asus A7V mobo 120gb hd (93gb free space) XP1800+ Gforce 2 gts vid card

Previously bootup time was around 30-40 seconds to desktop, now after
the Win Xp Pro screen with the animated dots sliding by there is no
activity from the HD light that I can see. After about one to one &
half minutes it continues to boot to windows where everything is
normal after that.
I've not installed/uninstalled any new programs but obviouisly
something has changed. I've cleared out the temp files and
windows/prefetch folder too, scanned for viruses which I have none all
of which makes no difference.

Can anyone advise me what else to look for.

Thanks

Killie

.
Killie,
Go to START / RUN and open the MSCONFIG. Go to the
STARTUP tab and see what all is loading at start up. Are
you familiar with everything in the list? Uncheck
anything that you don't want loading during boot up. You
will have to restart to implement the changes. This may
help.

Could be a bad device driver. Check Device Manager for
problems/conflicts, and you might look for and install the latest
drivers for your PC and it's peripherals; don't forget Windows Updates.

Msconfig/startup etc look normal, nothing new, though ctrl/alt/del in
the processes window Backweb seems to be missing from the list. It was
always there though what it was for I don't know, could this be the
problem?
