Slow boot

I just formatted my laptop and installed "Windows XP Pro"..
The problem I'm having is my computer "starts slow", everything boots
fast, but after that the computer uses 30-60-40-70% CPU, and after
~30secs my wifi & normal nic load too..

I think it's something to do with the processes just before my network
cards.. Or are it the network cards? Anyone who can help me debug? Or
had a similar problem?

Kind regards,
- Ruben

Does that mean that Windows XP Pro wasn't originally on this laptop? If
that is the case I suspect that you don't have the proper or current
drivers from the manufacturer loaded.

?

test safemode
and
safemode with networking
too

My network card isn't supported by default drivers (marvell) I

I've installed the drivers of my manufacturer (got the cd included)..
(Medion)
When I boot in safe mode, my network doesn't work at all.. (I booted
with networking)

You may check for newer drivers from the manufacturer. Also is the hard
drive access set to DMA(fast) instead of PIO(slow) in Device Manager
Primary IDE channel Advanced?

I already updated my drivers (from the Medion website) + my hard drive
is set to DMA (ultra fast)

But as I said, it's not just my computer that boots slow - everything
starts normal, but all of a sudden it just stops starting everything -
after a while my network interfaces show up in the right corner and
everything is ok...
If I try to do something in between, I can't.. Eg. right click on my
computer takes alot of time to load 'till my network interfaces show
up..

Is there a place I can see the starting times of services? Eg: 10.00
trying to start [x], 10.01 started [x].. So I can see what service
takes so long before my network interfaces?

It's really stupid - everything starts fast - but then I have to wait
~30secs before I can work on my computer :s
