Slow boot up,please help

How do i test a very slow boot up? could it be the bios? I turn the computer on and I get a beep and blank screen for a about 30 seconds then the slotted line accross the bottom moves very slow about 3-5 minutes then everything appears normal the WIN XP screen then all is normal?
Please help

maybe ya got too many programs trying to load. run your scans in system tools, here's a little tool i use, its called startup control panel 2.8 look it up its small.
