slow and disk cleanup utility not working

recently purchased a new pc, celeron processor win xp home
edition. The past few days the computer has been running
extremely slow, i tried running a few of the utilities.
check disk never finds a problem does not need to be
defragmented and disk cleanup does not work any body have
any ideas?? are there any hidden or new utilities that may
help me?? any way of finding issues with software or
downloads that may be causing problems?? the pc has run a
little slow from the start but the past few days has been
noticably slower we have been transfering files from the
old pc and downloading updates but at this point it would
be difficult to know what is causing this problem. it
would be difficult to do a restore and transfer every
thing again

Try going to run,type:cmd In cmd type:cleanmgr
Hopefully disk cleanup will run,if not type:Sfc /Scannow
When the graph starts youll need to install xp cd,exit the info page,when
its thru type:CHKDSK C: /R Agree to restart,then type:EXIT Restart computer
Even though defrag says that,view the report,run if you feel needed...

Save on Desktop.
Double click the icon once downloaded.
The icon can then be discarded.
