Slow A/D authentication across a router

Greetings -

Win XP clients are experiencing 10 minute delays when
authenticating to our Windows 2000 A/D server. These
clients are accessing the server across a router.

What settings should I check? Eventually they get logged
in, but it is slow every time.

DNS is running on the A/D server in question; it acts as
our A/D and web server.
