I went through all the threads and still no luck.

Outlook performance is super slow (almost 10 secs) going from e-mail to
e-mail, folder, drop-down, etc

details:
- Outlook 2003
- WinXP Pro
- non-exchange
- pst is approx 1gb

I tried:
- removing IM link
- changing the text/speech
- it's also a brand new pst that I created and copied eveyrthing over
- outlook 2000 was slow so I upgraded expecting issue to go away, apparently
not

Outlook is zippty when I run in "safe mode" though

Any more ideas/suggestions? this is driving me nuts

thx all

Any addins installed?

I had

- Google
- PGP
- Plaxo

but I killed them all- if I can't find any other solution I might uninstall
them entirely.

My outlook process is easily pegging over 40mb and sometimes much higher.
It kicks in really high opening up the calendar too...

try running outlook with the cleanreminders switch - close outlook, start
menu, run type
outlook.exe /cleanreminders

thx for keeping the suggestions coming

hi- i tried that and /resetfolder switch as well, thinking it was something
cached. Since it runs fine with /safe, its either an extension, the reading
pane, or something wonky in the toolbar customization...

I'm going to kill any random toolbar stuff...

OK- I'm getting somewhere- started it up w/ the

/nocustomize

Starts Outlook without loading outcmd.dat (customized toolbars) and *.fav
file.

and its zippy now- need to figure out what toolbar thing is jamming it up

I fixed the slowness issue:

It was a corrupted toolbar data file. I renamed the "outcmd.dat" to
"outcmd.old" and it works fine now.

thx for the direction

if you still have favs in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook, delete them. OL2003 doesn't use them - it converts
them to the XML used by the navigation pane.
