Slides Linked to Another Powerpoint Slide Library

I have a set of "so-called" master powerpoint slides that I maintain on a
shared folder. I would like to have others in my work group develop
powerpoint presentations by linking to those slides -- so that when a slide
in the "master file" is updated, it will be updated in those individual
linked powerpoint presentations.

Is there a way that I can do this? (I tried using slide sorter and
copy/link-paste, but the link option was not available to me.)

Thanks for any help

Thanks for the suggestion - but no, it won't work for two reasons.

first, it results in a hyperlink on the slide rather than the content of the
slide iteself.

second, once you forward through the slides, it places you into the file to
which you linked - not back to the slide sequence which had the link.

also - as I mentioned, special paste - link was not available (grayed-out)
when i worked in slide sorter view. I actually had to open the slide, select
all, copy, and "paste special - link" onto a blank slide in the target file -
with the results above.

The idea is that I want to have others build multiple variations of
presentations (10 or 20 slides) from a master slide set (100's of slides),
but to have their presentations updated when I update the master file.

Any other thoughts? (Please?)
