slides advance before they should

2003 PowerPoint. Created a presentation with a music background & annimation.
Each slide has a different time for transition. It worked great last week.
The music was in snyc with the transitions. NOW the slide advance too fast.
Ex. Slide 2 is set to advance after 11 seconds, but it now advancing after 3
seconds. I have reinstalled PowerPoint, but that did not solve the problem.
Can you please give any advice.

Richard heres a method for timing which can work better. Set the auto advance
to zero seconds! Now draw a shap and move it off screen so it wont be seen.
Give this this shape an entrance animation (with previous) and in custom
animation >timing type in the time that you want eg "11 seconds slow"( NB you
dont have to accept the default times for slow etc - type in your own) The
advance will wait until the animation is over and then advance
