slide timings not matching sound track

I have put together a large presentation and set the entire presentation to
music. When I rehearse timings so all slides match the music and then run
the presentation the slide timings change. I tried saving the presentation
to the original perfect settings and then saved the presentation to the cd
format - the timings no longer matched up again. Help...how can I make the
settings match and stay matched?

Thanks for your help. It doesn't make my problem any easier to deal with
though. But at least now I know I'm fighting an uphill battle.
