Slide show

Hi:

I've been publishing using FrontPage for a few years and just recently, for
the first time I was unable to access more than the first 5 pics in my slide
show, even though I have added 13. This is my most recent publishing with a
slide show. On my website, all other slide shows work properly. The host
supports FrontPage 2002, and I use FrontPage 2003. They have installed a
"new platform" within the last month, or so, and this is the first slide show
I have published since the change. Is there a limit as to how many pics a
slide show will handle? What happens is that the first 5 pics appear, and I
can access all 5, but when I click the dark arrow on the right nothing
happens! Do you have a suggestion? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Patrick

In theory, on a Windows server, there is no limit to the number of images.
On a Linux or Unix server there may be a limit of about 35 images. I have
a (private) slide show gallery containing 135 images with no problems for
those using broadband and Internet Explorer.

However, to be practical, the limit is set by the load time - a lot of
images requires a lot of downloading - every thumbnail has to be downloaded
in one hit. Also, the slide show script is Internet explorer only, the
result is a very wide page in other browsers - the full width of all the
thumbnails, in my case this would be about 17000px wide, with the main
image displayed at the centre of the screen.

The Slide Show gallery is generally one to avoid.
