Slashdot says Nyet to Mono

Not that I particularly care anymore, especially given the very strong
push by Java in open source circles (e.g. Apache's planned J2EE
Geronimo app server and Red Hat's plan to create an open source Java),
but it seems a lot of open source advocates in slashdot seem to feel
the same way I do - Mono is a useless and doomed project that is also
rendered dangerous for Linux by the Microsoft patents hanging over it.

Mono would have had a chance if they only implemented the ECMA standards and
then implemented their own set of classes or moved the python class
libraries into their own hierarchy, but with cloning every M$ interface
they probably are doomed, also we will see how Parrot will inflict the
whole mono development, if it really is fast, it could become the standard
VM for non Java and non .Net based languages, well it could unless opens
their hotspot VM.
Mono probably will be crushed between Microsoft, Java and Parrot as I see
it.
