User has large Distribution list. She has separated the list into several parts to be able to still manipulate the list.
2 questions

1. Does anyone know the size limit of a distribution list in Outlook

2. How is a new distribution list created using some of the members from another list without individually copying the members one at a time?

Here is a link to an article that explains how the size limit on
distribution lists works,
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;238569. As for you
second question I am not aware of a way to create a new distribution list
using some of the members of an existing list.

I hope this information is helpful.
