Sitting in this wheelchair is uncomfortable

Sitting in this wheelchair is uncomfortable, especially in the evening
hours, even though I have taken a nap for about an hour.

I make adjustments to the length by pushing pillows forward.

I am about six feet tall and weigh about 170 pounds.

Should I have a custom wheelchair made?

I don't think that pillows will solve my problem because the
wheelchair is still uncomfortable after I use them.

Thank you,

PS Note that I get only Microsoft newsgroups.

You need to talk to your Service Provider about which newsgroups
he supports. Posting a wheelchair question in a Windows XP
newsgroup is unlikely to get you the best responses. It is equivalent
to asking a supermarket check-out attendant how to fix your car's
gearbox, because he is the only person in sight. Asking a bunch
of car mechanics would get you a far better and broader reply.

As it happens user comfort is a concern, why else would MS provide
"Accessibility options" in XP.

And it just so happens that as well as being involved with computers I also
repair wheelchairs as part of my job!

Part of the problem may be that you are kinda forced into one position for
long periods and a reclining chair may help, but they can also be cumbersome
and needless to say more costly for spares.

Any chance you could get an ordinary domestic reclining chair to reduce the
time you actually spend in it and take a nap in bed instead of in the chair
(Which is where an ordinary reclining chair might be useful too).

If computer use is involved you can use the accessibility options to make
text and stuff easier to read or even have things narrated to you.

my dad sits in a wheel chair all day on what I would call a quite physically
heavy jell filled cushion,,, form fits, has real thick heavy slow moving
gushy jell in it ... last time I replaced it, cost was about $60. I've
sat on it,,, comfortable on the rear.

Believe it or not, I bottom is okay with my plain, uncushioned
wheelchair. Now perhaps a really thick cushion would be fine. BUt
there is one more problem: the length. I am not too tall by today's
standards [6' 0"], yet a standard wheelchair is too short.
