I’m running a Windows 2000 Active directory comprising of one domain. I have three branches. Each branch has one windows 2000 domain controller. At the moment they are replicating fine. But I want to use the Active Directory sites feature and I’m not to sure the best way to go about it. I have read books and Microsoft’s step by step guide. Mainly I’m confused when you add and define a subnet

My main domain controller is located at our main branch call it Branch A it has the following ip address config : ip address 10.8.1.* subnet mask 255.255.255.0 default gate way 10.8.1.

All branch controllers and workstations are configured to use the subnet mask 255.255.255.0. with obviously different IP addresses. Branch A would have IP addresses starting with 10.8.1.* Branch B would have 10.8.2.*. Branch C would have 10.8.3.* The default gateways at each branch would have different address Branch A would have 10.8.1.* , Branch B would have 10.8.2.* and Branch C would have 10.8.3.*

If I was to add a new site for Branch B for example what should I enter in the Address and Mask fields in the New Object – Subnet window

And what would the Address and Mask fields in the New Object – Subnet window be for Branch C

Thank

address: 10.8.2.0

address: 10.8.3.0
subnet: 255.255.255.0

The address is that of the network itself rather than any particular
host or node.
