Just a couple of useful free links:

Scans a single file for virus testing with the following anti-virus scanners:

AntiVir, Avast, AVG, BitDefender, ClamAV, Dr.Web, F-Prot Antivirus,
Fortinet, Kaspersky Anti-Virus, mks_vir, NOD32, Norman Virus Control

Virus samples are then submitted to the above vendors

IIRC, VirusScan.Jotti uses Linux versions and allows 10 mb files max..
Fortinet is a recent addition.

VirusTotal is Win-based, allows 2 mb files, and also supports e-mail
submission.

As you can see, the list of scanners overlaps substantially. Please
don't abuse their generosity.

I find them particularly useful for verifying positives on my PC and
for (eventually) submitting new samples to multiple vendors at once.

(I think I found one or the other originally per Art's comment.
