Simple Question

I am attaching two desktops (Windows XP Home) together using a 5 port switch
and patch cable. There is no broadband modem, just dial-up from each machine
to the Internet. I have the first desktop plugged into port 1 on the switch
and the 2nd desktop plugged into port 2. Is this correct?
