I have 2 accounts that require 2 different signatures I am using windows mail
on Vista 64 I have tried everything I can think of to make this happen and it
will only allow one signature whichever is the default. I have set each one
properly in the advance tab and still same problem. ???

You have three choices:
1)manually add both signatures
2)automatically add the default signature. When you want to use the second
account, change the From line, delete the default signature, and insert the
second account signature.
3)purchase www.oehelp.com/WMIDs/

Windows Mail (and OE) correctly handle signatures when
replying or forwarding. When originating a new email, however,
the program has no way of knowing which account you want, so it
uses the default account and the signature associated with that
default account.

First of all I know about switching accounts, checking off which signature
for what account, these are not fixes. Purchasing another program to make the
first one do what it supposed to all ready is definitely not! This is a
problem that reqiures a fix from microsoft.

Good luck! Are you going to make Microsoft do what
thousands of beta testers and MVPs couldn't make MS do
ever since OE4?

Gary VanderMolen

the signature feature has ALWAYS wrongly or rightly only supported ONE email signature but numerous news signatures.
as has been explained, do it manually or use the program recommended.

It is defiantly wrong and not working as it say it should, in “Advanced
Signature Settings†It asks to check the account for which you would like to
use the selected signature and that if no signature is selected the default
one will be used. It allows you to add more than one signature with one
always being default. This is obviously intended so you can have more than
one email account and select different signature for each (but not more than
one per account). This does not work and very obviously says it will. This
needs to be corrected patched or whatever it takes to make it work. It is one
thing to say they will correct this, I don’t believe I should have to spend
more money to make something I already paid for work. That like buying a new
car that is advertised with electric widows and have to buy the motors for
them or put them up manually. I think anybody would either return the car or
take them to court if the company had the nerve to tell them that.Returning
is defiantly not an option at this point. This option worked seamlessly in
outlook that was bundled with Office home and student previously. --

The multiple signatures DO work correctly when forwarding or
replying. When you create a *new* email, the program has no way
of knowing which account you intend to use, so I uses the default
account and its associated signature.

Of course it knows you select which email account in a drop down box just
like in Outlook and it worked perfectly there. It would insert the correct
signature based on which email account you selected, and switched
accordingly. If it worked there why doesn’t it work for windows mail?
Replying is not important for they know who you are! Sending and forwarding
signature option is imperative for me. This option is, it is supposed to work
it has worked in the past perfectly and anything else is not acceptable.
Microsoft needs to fix this problem or come up with a solution that works.--

Windows Mail doesn't behave any differently in this regard then
Outlook Express did.
To be sure, OE/WM has never had the many extra features that
Outlook has, and Microsoft intends to keep it that way.
Why would anyone pay for Outlook if the free client
does everything? OE/WM's feature set is limited on purpose.

Gary VanderMolen

it has never not even with OE had the ability to auto inset more than ONE EMAIL sig.
there is ONLY ONE email sig allowed unless you disable auto insert and do it manually.
the multiple sigs are for news groups ONLY.

Tools>Options>Signatures>Advanced

When in advanced, choose which email account you would like that paticular
signature on.

Eg.

Log in to "Account 1." and create a signature for it. So now that "Account
1" has "Signature 1" on it, create a "Signature 2" and press advanced. When
the Advanced window comes up, select Account 2 and press "Ok." Then you can
fiddle with all the other tools like "Add signature to all outgoing messages"
etc.

Hope that helped.

That doesn't work. I have the same frustration as NSTZ. I have multiple
e-mail accounts. I set them all up with signatures and assign the specific
ones to the respective accounts through the advanced features.

Contrary to the instructions, it doesn't work. Works only when replying.
Sounds like a bug.
