Let's see, how can I say this nicely without hurting your feelings? OK,
let's try:

Most people read Usenet postings in plain text, so the graphics won't come
across anyway even if we wanted them. Which most of us don't.

People who use dialup to download Usenet postings (and there still are a
significant number of people on dialup) and/or who pay for timed access
won't want to spend their time and money downloading your photo/smiley gif.

So if you really want to have a flashy signature, save it for regular email.
I realize this doesn't answer your question and I'm sorry that I can't help
you with that.

Thank you guys for the swift reply. I guess I will need to switch to a
webbased news reader because the newsgroup that I am subscribed to is
alt.binaries.pictures.animated.gifs

Switch your newsreader to send/receive (News) in rich text of html format.
Just be aware that you could get some stick should you visit a non-binary
newsgroup with html settings - regardless of whether you are trying to
embed/post images or not.

Then one would think that posts including gifs would be acceptable there, as
they would not here. Why not look in that newsgroup's FAQ or post a
question in that group as to how to do this with the email client of your
choice? Since you didn't specify that newsgroup in your original post, I
would never have guessed it. I wouldn't have given you a different answer
regarding gifs in other newsgroups but would have suggested you post in
alt.binaries.pictures.animated.gifs in my first answer to you. Would have
saved time all around.

WRONG as usual.

html has always been welcome in Microsoft news groups.
check the TITLE of the group, what does it say.

typical if you do not know how to do something, belittle others who want to.

I didn't notice any belittling except from you. So what does that mean?

BTW, I checked the title of the group and didn't see anything that mentioned
html.

Lemme guess, you have the hots for Malke and she keeps turning you down,
right? Why else would you need to be so nasty to her all the time?

must be one of her sorority sisters.

Nope, but I have used the information on her site in the past and was very
grateful for it. Where is your helpful site chock full of information?

she definitely needs all he help she can get.

She seems to do remarkably well on her own, but nice of you to be concerned.

read her earlier posting when the individual first asked for help.

I didn't see anything nearly as belittling in her post as in yours. How come
its ok for you to do it? Pot, kettle, black?

of course you have to take off the blinders first.

Got no blinders on, your motives are clear; jealousy or unrequited love.

Where is the reference to html in the title of the newsgroup?

"all too much on her web site is not her work, but copied, stolen from
others.and fails to give credit when doing so."

Do you have proof? Accusing someone of copying and stealing is serious and
you should be prepared to back it up.
There are many, many credits on her site for other peoples work and she
refers often to links to other sites. Take your blinders off.
Where is your very helpful site, chock full of information for people of all
skill levels to use?

"using canned responses all the time shows a lack of intelligence. not
competence."

That is your opinion. She doesn't used canned responses "all the time" and
my opinion is that there are times when a template response is sufficient.
And it is my opinion along with many others that she is completely
competent. It is also my opinion that you are jealous.
