my sister is running xp, and every few minutes, after she's stopped moving
the mouse or pressing a key, it signs her out.. that's not 'logging her out',
but 'switching user' out, if you know what i mean. I did a virus scan and
spyware scan, and didn't find any viruses... why could this be behaving this
way?

Change the time before her screen saver cuts in, and if you want
remove the tick from "on resume, password protect"

rgds
Roberto

she has no screen saver

If you look in the same area I think you'll find an option for locking the
screen after so many minutes. Uncheck it....
(I'm not on Windows at the moment so can't check precisely where it is....)

also be sure to check your power saving settings in control panel

if you mean where it says, in power option properties, 'Settings for
Home/Office Desk power scheme'... the montior will turn off after 20 mins...
hard disks, standby, hibernates, are all set to 'never' happen. So why would
it be signing her out all the time?

And you are sure that if you right-click on the desktop, choose "properties"
and click on the "screensaver" tab, the Screensaver box says "None"?

I tried it with a current alternate account and created a new one for this
test, niether have this problem.

then there's something obviously wrong with this account - create a new
account, migrate all the data to it and delete the old......
