sign on problem

Whenever I try to open messenger I get the message that a
newer version is available and will not open until I
download the newer version.well I have dine that several
times and still cannot get messenger to open unless I
dowload the newer version everytime I wan t to sign on.
I allready have the latest version 4.7 any ideas

If you click cancel (or don't sign in) and simply click the Help menu, then About, which
version do you have?
