Sidebar automation error

G

Guest

I have tried to download a couple of gadgets for my sidebar. When they try to
install I get an error message stating that there was a problem with line:23
and that there was an automation error.

The gadgets that came with vista work fine and one that I downloaded works
fine. Is there any way to resolve this issue?

One of the gadgets I'm trying to use is network utilization for the live
gallery.
http://gallery.live.com/liveitemdetail.aspx?li=53941b50-77eb-42ab-8533-a3d9c841c988&pl=1&bt=1

I can either download or install it directly but I get the same error dialog:

Error:

A runtime error has occured.
Do you wish to debug?

Line 23
Error: Automation server can't create object

Yes NO

This also happens with another gadget that takes the place of the quick
launch toolbar:

http://gallery.live.com/liveItemDetail.aspx?li=4ccdc564-3d94-48a5-82f6-4693940e4ab6&bt=1&pl=1

Other gadgets that I have downloaded have installed fine. WHy these two?

Might be a scripting run-time problem. Click Start, type:

cmd /k reg query hkcr\scripting.filesystemobject /s

Press ENTER. Copy the output and include it in your reply.

The cmd window comes up with the following error message:

Error: The system was unable to find the specified registry key or value.

(I cut and past the line from your message into the search/command field)

Thank you for your assistance with this matter.

Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. Type the following command and press ENTER.

regsvr32 scrrun.dll

You'll get the error 0x8000005 when running the above command. Ignore that error, and restart Windows once. Try installing the two gadgets again and see if the problem is fixed.

If you receive any other error message when running the "regsvr32.." command above, let me know.
