SID displays in Security Tab

We recently built a new DC, allowed replication and
demoted our original (and only) DC. Now when we go into
the security tab on any shares, many of the users and
security groups are displayed as a SID. If I add a new
user to the security section, it adds as the user name but
when I close and re-open security, the SID is displayed.
Is there a way to fix this? It seems to be causing
problems with user rights and access. Thx!

I did transfer the FSMO roles prior to taking down
(DCPROMO) the original DC.
