Shutting down

When I shut down I get a dialog with end program now. You
something like that. How do look and see what programs is
still running besides going to task manager.

Task Manager is probably the only way to tell what programs are still
running at that point. However, when you get an "End Program" dialog, it
usually tells the name of the offending program. What is the title of the
window that says End Program?

All running processes are shown in processes tab of
task manager (You are using W2K, correct?) You also
can install and use SpyBot S&D. It has running
processes. You can also install PrcVIEW, a small
Freeware program. Google search.

I suggest you look in and become familiar with the
processes that run on your computer, so you can
spot wanted and unwanted processes. And also
processes that might surprise you (when stopped)
the first like explorer.exe (which is your
desktop).

By the way, you can kill explorer.exe and use task
manager, applications tab -> New Process... and
type "explorer" <enter>(not necessary to enter the
extension in the command line.

I hope this helps. I never know when to give extra,
but if I didn't, well someone may benefit, I hope.
