When shutting down windows 2000 it can take up to 3 or 4
minutes. I'm not the only person in my office to suffer
this problem and wondered if there is a patch for this
fault?

Its often caused by unloading various apps/drivers during the shut down
process - this is likely to depend on what Apps/Hardware etc you have loaded
on yr system - therefore need not necessarily be a win2K prob.
You could start by closing any running apps and shutting down any in the
taskbar to see if that helps.
If it does its then a process of elimination.
It might also be an idea to check for Updates to Bios, hardware drivers etc

You may or may not find this helpful, but it was a big help for me
when I had a similar problem. Go to the Gibson Research website at
http://www.grc.com/default.htm and check out Steve's small free
"wizmo" program. For me, the "Exit" option effects a very smooth and
fast shutdown with no EventID errors. BTW, are you seeing EventID1000
errors in your Event Viewer? I Hope this helps.

For a thorough explanation and fix, check out the following site:
http://www.citrix4ge.de/ctxsffaq/index.htm#prof. The proposed fix is
a free utility named "UPHClean", available via email from Robin Caron
of Microsoft (email address listed on website).
