I am trying to install autoCAD in my computer but
Ihaven't been able to do it because autoCAD uses a
different OS (for example Windows 98 ). So I was trying
to unistall windows XP but I couldn't. I read that I
can have to OS in the same computer but need to create a
different volume in the hard drive ( I don't know how to
do that. I'll really apreciate if anybody can help me
with this matter.

Sincerely;
Roberto

I don't recommend it, even though it's perfectly possible. I had 98SE and XP
Pro on different partitions and had trouble starting either of them. I
reckon it's time to upgrade to the XP version of AutoCAD.

What version of Acadd are you tying to install. We use autocrap at work,
version 2000, and have no problems running it on a brand new Dell with XP. I
believe you have other problems with your PC. You should be able to install
almost any version of Autocrap that is made for Windows. I know people that
have install Generic Cadd 6.15 (DOS program) on XP with very little
tweaking.

It would first be worth while trying the Program Compatibility wizard
(in All Programs - Accessories) . Use it to manually browse to the
setup or install program on the CD,and tell it to pretend to be Win98.
If successful, do the same for the installed program (r-click its short
cut in All Programs - wherever, Properties and setup on the
Compatibility page).

If that does not work, you would need to make a separate *primary* FAT
32 partition for the Win98, which means probably shrinking your XP one
to make room after it. That needs third party software - Partition
MAgic 8, or BootIT NG, from http://www.BootitNG.com ($35 shareware - 30
day full functional trial)

Then if XP is in a FAT 32 partition, you could use the method at Doug
Knox's page http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_repair_9x.htm

or use BootITNG to handle the dual boot
