On XP Professional when I am online (internet) windows
automatically issues a message with code 1073741817 NT
Authority and forces a shutdown. It only happens when on
the internet.

If you want to stop it from shutting down...first go into
your command prompt prior to login online...and when it
pops up and says gonna shut down in 60 seconds..type in
the command prompt screen Shutdown -a....that will abort
the shutdown...then run hijackthis.exe and then go
download the patch for sasser..you prolly got that
worm..then you can run microsofts software that kills it
off your comp

Do you have a illegal copy of windows ??? If so thats
what will happen or you could have a virus , try a virus
scan

No, not at all.
Where did you get that idea?
Please state the source of this misinformation.
That is NOT what happens with illegal Windows.

Jones ... I was told by microsoft if you have a illegal
copy of windows it will shut down after 90 days ... Now
this is for windows xp though ... So are you say the tech
guy at microsoft is incorrect ???

If a Microsoft tech said "if you have a illegal copy of windows it
will shut down after 90 days" then the tech was incorrect.
Otherwise there may have been a misunderstanding.
