shutdown windows 2000professional

When I perform the shutdown prossess, it functions for the
monitor, but still the pc doesn't shut down. Pressing the
power button for 7 - 8 seconds makes it shut down, but
this isn't a solution.
 
When you state it shut down the monitor, do you mean a message comes up and
states "It is now safe to turn off your computer" or something like that!
If that is what is happening, there is nothing wrong. Your system is not
automatically doing a full power off because, it doesn't have the ability to
do that so you have to do a manual shut down. One other thing you can check
is , in control panel check the power options applet.

you need to upgrade the computer BIOS

or goto control panel, energy and click on the ACPI
and check it to enable the support
