Shutdown / startup problem

Suppose I have an abnormal shutdown on Monday (I have to press and hold
the power button). But then on Tuesday-Thursday, it starts and shuts
down okay. Then on Friday there is a startup problem (cannot run any
programs).

Could the shutdown problem on Monday have caused the startup problem on
Friday even though it worked in the days between?

What's the point of the question? Whether it did or not, if there is a
problem manifesting itself now, then address the problem using standard
troubleshooting techniques, including analyzing what changed in the
system over those days.
