Shutdown Problems

In the last few days, whenever I shut Down VISTA (RC2), the screen flashes
the "Shutting Down" Message, but never shuts the PC down. I have waited for
over an hour and it still has not shut down.

Whn this is in process, I am unable to acess Task Manager to see if anything
is running.

Any suggestions?

A number of things can hang shutdown, including atttempts by the pc to
reboot.

They can be tough problems to solve. I'll show you these--which sometimes
work. I find the detailed site at AUMHA for this, not helpful, and many
others I've collected but not posted here.

Also type devmgmt.msc in run>enter:

Do this for *each USB root hub entry separately.

Rt. Click USB Root Hub>Properties>Power Management Tab extreme right>take
ckmark out of "allow this computer to turn off this device to save power"
