I have windows xp pro. Sometimes when I tried to shutdown, my screen will
remain blue screen and I have to press the power button again to shut the
screen down.Any one knows why? thanks.

Hi Who,

As I understand, you use Start->Shut Down to shut down your Windows XP
computer. However, it stops at "It is now safe to turn off your computer"
and you need to push the Power button to shut down the computer. Is this
correct?

It is possible that the "Advanced Power Management Support" feature is not
enabled. Please refer to the following article to enable this feature and
then check if this issue persists.

Also, please make sure you have installed Windows XP Service Pack 1 to make
your system more consistent.

Please let me know if this solves this issue or if you need further
assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Eric,

Yes and no. I use start->shutdown button, it says "window is shutting down"
and then the message disappears. There is no other message appear on screen.
All I got is a blue screen with mouse pointer which can be moved around.
I'll try what's on web site and let you know the result. Thanks.

Hi Who,

It appears that you have enabled "Advanced Power Management Support" but
you have not had Windows XP SP1 installed. Please install this pack and
then check if this issue persists. If you encounter any difficulties or
there is anything I can do for you, please feel free to let me know. I am
looking forward to your reply.
