Noel S Pamfree

Most times when I try to shut down my computer I get an 'End Program -WAB
Notification Window' which tells me that it is trying to close a program. It
then reports that 'This program is not responding' and I have to cancel it
manually.

I am assuming it is something to do with the Windows Address Book?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Noel

I would suspect a virus. The WAB is your 'Windows address book'. Many remailers open that to sent itself to others.

Hello Mark,

I see by your reply to Noel about his shut-down problem, that you might be
the guy to ask a similar question to.
I get the same type of message during shut-down as Noel, but it is about 2
different programs. One is "DeeDeeNotificationWindow", and the other is
"hpoevm08.exe". So it tells me, "shutting program down, please wait" but
they never have enought time to shut down by themselves, so I either sit and
watch them crash on their own as they get 'run over' by windows, or, I hit
the "end now" button. My question is this.
They only started showing up recently, after I purchased and ran a registry
aid program, and an Ad-Aware program. This might not be related whatsoever,
but just info for you to ponder. The hpoevm08 program is somehow attached to
the HP imaging system, and the DeeDeeNotificationWindow, I have no clue
about. Searches won't bring it up, even with some modifications I've tried
in otder to fool the computer into bring up anything close. It doesn't seem
to matter how long the computer has been on, or what programs I've run before
shutting down. And, sometimes it DOESN'T happen, but more often than not it
does. It's not hurting my computer from what I can tell...it's just a pain.

Thanks for your time,

Jim

Ok i have a similar problem. Everytime i go to shut down i get the same kind
of message u guys got but mine's for lexmark something. Also when ever i go
to restart i get 3 of them for different programs and sometimes i get one for
the same program twice. This is becoming more than a minor annoyance. If
ANYONE can give me some solution i will be greatly thankful.

Press winkey-break(or start/run 'sysdm.cpl') ,/Hardware tab Open the Device manager and click the + sign next to Ports(COM & LPT).
select the printer port, e.g. ECP Printer Port (LPT1). Port Settings tab check the 'Enable legacy Plug and Play detection'

I'm sure that would work, however i do not use the "ECP Printer Port(LPT1)"
my printer connects through a USB cable. Is there another solution?
